The Middle Tennessee Thread

Brrrr! it is bitter out there! I gave evryone a treat of scratch to help warm them up ,will go back out in a few and give them a drink. After my fingers thaw!Ouch!Don't forget the wild birdies. Boy can those finches eat the thistle, naturally, its the most expensive! Dang startlings are comming to the feeders and pens. I hate them. They are so gluteneous and leave such a mess!

Morning everyone! Wow, I have lots of stuff to catch up on here on the thread this morning.

It is really cold here this morning (around 20-21), but thank goodness the wind is not up. It's so much easier to get things done when your face is not frozen, LOL!

Holly, Nisa (your little silver Ameraucana girl) finally started laying yesterday. It was a loooong narrow egg, but a lovely shade of blue. Here's a shot of her egg (left) next to Mija's egg (my enormous EE girl). Too bad cameras just can't capture that nice blue, but it seemed to capture the mint green of the big egg. . .

And here's my egg delivery for my neighbor - - bantam Ameraucanas, bantam cochins, silkies, and my big ol' EE hen represented here:

In two months I will be drowning in eggs, even from my small flock.

Okla-DD, I would love to go to Elkton if you are still available. I'll take another look at the weather here in a minute. As long as it's not nasty Sat (like it will be today!) I'm game. I'll PM you. Oh, and I was sure to feed the wild birds this morning.

The last 2 weeks have just been really hard towards the end it was just so bad I was begging her to let go. I will miss her dearly but am relieved she is now set free. I sorta feel like it is not real but do accept it. Just very confussed at this point.

Thank you though.

Connie glad the babies are doing well. I should have many more hatch the next few weeks starting on the 13th. I picked up over 60 eggs in Dalton.

Tisha,
Honey I am so sorry.

and are going down that way Friday night to be able to spend a few moments in peace (well in frisky peace) without children hanging on every word.
I know we had planned on a road trip but I hope you will forgive me

in light of what is going on. I am excited and so incredibly nervous at the same time. Go figure after all the time we have been together.
I can't wait to see the chickens I am buying...I would really like your honest opinion of them.
I am work right now--- well until the snow gets so thick driving will be interesting--- call me later or email me at home so we can talk.
Once again, know I am thinking about you.

Oh there has to many many more things that you really want! How about other cochins or other bantams!Tease Tease !lol How about turkeys do you have them? There are usually lots of those. And ducks! And lots of heavy laying hens!
Seriously I hope they have a good turn out with the bad weather. But hopefully its supposed to be warm by the weekend.

I haven't seen any lavender orps go thru there but if I do and they are any good I will try and get them for you.
You have all kinds of people there, sometimes good breeders bring there extras and sometimes people with good show birds they got for the kids who out grew them bring in nice birds. And then there are those that have purebreds that are half this and half that but are purebreds therefore worth as much as those other purebreds are worth!

Anyone have snow yet? Its just started here. Wife called from Bowling Green and is headed home, they have two to three inches fresh up there.
Talked to my daughter in Okla. and she has 20 inches more on top of the last snow!

Holly those are really pretty cochins. I like the blues. Where did the come from? The only thing bad about shipping birds is the freight is usually more than the birds!

Hey my kids are broke after buying these 6 birds they can't afford any more Cochin's I only allowed them to take so much out of savings to buy them..I figure they will make more money off them in a year than the bank is paying them in interest..peanuts.
The Cochin's came from James Cooper in TX-judge and one of the best breeders of the blue cochin's around..Shipping was only $85 for them...one of those times where shipping was a LOT cheaper than the birds. Now,I'll be carting the birds and the kids all over to the shows...wth was I thinking
th.gif

I have lots of pairs of bantam mottled cochins for sale right now..real pretty kids..
Snowing here now it's covering the other days snow now...it needs to go away
