(1) My parents and I have had chickens for 4 weeks, but otherwise we are complete newbies (after reading all the literature we could get our hands on, of course!)
(2) We have 26 5-week old chicks
(3) We chose breeds we thought would do well in a colder climate (Colorado):Auracana, Ostralorp, Dominique, Barred Rock, and Silver-laced Wyandotte.
(4) Through my parents
(5) I knit, garden, occasionally babysit my younger siblings, and read
(6) I live in a large family of 7, we have 2 cats (outdoor), we live on 15 acres of land we are hoping to turn into a sustainable farm (moved out here a month ago).
It's nice to be here, I hope to be able to get good advice, and when I'm qualified, give it!
