Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, I'm new to having chickens myself. I grew up next to neighbors who raised an amazing variety of birds of all types, including chickens, pigeons, geese, ducks, and turkeys. About 3 weeks ago, I purchased 3 barred rocks and 3 golden-laced wyandottes to start my flock. I'd love to get some Jersey Giants and Speckled Sussex next year if all goes well. Or whichever birds tickle my fancy by then.

I have a 2 year old son and another one on the way; a horse; and a supportive husband who got roped into this whole chicken thing but seems to find it reasonably enjoyable.
