Hi everyone, I am as new as a newbie can be. After a long search, I found my perfect homestead on several acres and sold my home in the suburbs. I'm getting settled in and am planning to start raising hens for eggs (and to be my feathery companions) in May or June. My very handy husband is at work building a custom coop. We'd like to get used to having 2-3 hens first, and we'll raise some chicks at a later date.
For now, I'll sit on my back deck reading Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens while I listen to the roosters crow in the distance at neighbors' homes. Looking forward to learning all I can here!
