What a great informative site! I only have a few hens, and came across your forum while surfing the web looking at different breeds of roosters.

Kinda addicting, but am learning soooooo much. I have had RIR in the past, but also love the Lakenvelders and Buff Orpingtons (sp) actually love them all, but have decicded I would like to get a nice little Maran flock going.

So am happy to be here, and to learn all I can about the Marans!

Hello and welcome to BYC from Kentucky. Marans are a wonderful breed. We have the Black Copper and Cuckoo varieties. Ours are extra gentle and always curious and follow us around whenever we are in the yard.
