Hello from Connecticut!

Hi
frow.gif
and
welcome-byc.gif
from another Connecticutian (Nutmegger)!
Where in CT are you? The local forum, "Connecticut!" is fairly active, if you want to find others around here, and there are some really chicken-smart people there-- actually, all over BackyardChickens.com!

When we were planning our coop, we looked on this site for plans and ideas, as well as some books. I'm lucky in that my boyfriend found that he has building skills, and pretty much built it as he went along (would it be too punny if I said he "winged it"?), with his own plan, mostly in his head. However, three books that I'd suggest are:
Chicken Coops: 45 Building Plans for your Flock by Judy Pangman,
Gail Damerow's Building Chicken Coops,
and of course Building Chicken Coops for Dummies by Todd Brock, Dave Zook, and our own Rob Ludlow (the owner of BYC, known here as Nifty-Chicken).

You can order the last one from here. Just go to the brown "Shop" box up on the right at the top of the page. Under Categories, click Book Nook, then the title --there's also an offer for two books, with a bonus for ordering through the BYC store.
Good luck, and again, Welcome!

Hi there! I am actually down in Stamford, closer to the MerritParkway. Boy my head is really swimmming with sizes, plans, runs sizes, pop door- auto or not, sand pit under roost bars, enough windowsm enough vents., why are those giant rocks and tree roots just where I wanted to build?

My chciks should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday so maybe once they are here I can calm down and finallize this coop. Too big?? Too small?? That's the big question.

As always any guidance is greatly appreciated!!
