Hello from Connecticut!

Thank you so much for the wonderful & warm welcomes ! I'm still wandering around here reading everything. I was going to try and post a photo of the chicks to find out possible color(s), but I found the same babies and believe they will be black or grey.
I have a white rooster & two black hens (for silkies). Though I've had them for the past three years, there's tons I don't know. I really love the cream/buff colored silkies. Just don't know anyone local, to look at some of ask about.
A little bit about me. I have rescued cats (& then random animals great n small lol) as an official rescue for 13 years. So many people around here think that any animal in need means call 'her' :) that's how I got my very first hen. Someone left her in a cage, she was pretty much bald and full of blisters when I got her. She wasn't so friendly 3 1/2 years ago. Now i can call her and pet her. Momma red is just cool. I think she's a rhode island red? Once I can get my computer to work, I'll upload pictures & can't wait to find out what the other two 'send them to her' hens are :)
I have tons of furry, finned, and feathered animals to keep me busy.

Welcome Silkiemomma,

I am new also and live in nearby MA (work in RI). I also volunteer for 2 different rescues and have a variety of animals dogs, cat, rats (some mine some fosters). I think chickens are a natural next step for the animal lover!

I have 2 maybe 3 viable eggs in my incubator due to hatch on the 19th. My dream is to breed high quality silkies and show them, my reality probably keep them as pets (absolutely fine also).

I am going to the Poultry show in Springfield MA which will most likely be my demise! My outdoor area is not set up completely so only chicks or eggs right now for me!

Springfield MA on the 19th & 20th. It is called the Northeast Poultry Congress I think. My first time going.
