Hello from Costa Rica!

Hi there from Jessa "The Chicken Lady" in Tamarindo. Since 2010 I have started my own flock and now have over 100 chickens. They are a mix of Crijollos, BarredRocks, Black Jersey or Australops ( they call them Black sex- line here) and now of course Isa Browns which seem to be the only Ponedoras you can buy.now.

I always keep a bunch of my young roosters and people come and are in awe of all the different colors and size.

I also have my own incubator that is the only way to refresh your flock.

Feel free to call me anytime. 8878 9689

Welcome to Costa Rica. We moved to Sarchi Sur, a Hobby Farm, last mid October.
I am glad to find a family with chickens.

I have a 3 mos old Banty Hen that I would like to find a good home for.

She is the odd one-out on this farm. She is in good health. A solitary home would be best for her and maybe a rooster.

Our 2 hens do not want her near them: one hen is paired with our only rooster. She is still mothering a runted/stunted chick(I named him/her Little Bit) at night.

The other hen has a white feathers all over chick she is paired with. This chick is from a hen of the same breed who would not sit on her eggs.

So the Banty hen I would like to find a home for is all alone except when she is with Little Bit.

If I am posting this in the wrong area I apologize.

Thank you so much,
Salli

I can send pictures if anyone is interested.

Hi,
Where about in the Central Valley are you located? I am located in the Ciudad Quesada/La Fortuna area.

One of my hens hatched 5 eggs 3 months ago. I got 4 roosters and 1 hen.

I would gladly trade you a beautiful baby rooster for a hen.

Let me know.

You can either respond here or call me 85922618

I am not sure if your question was addressed to FeatherFeet but I will answer anyway. We are outside of Sarchi Sur, Alajuela. I do not have any roosters and only 4 hens. Two are a brown/red color(Brownie & Big Mama and 2 are black/white(Blackey & Bobbie) color. Bobbie is the new kid on the block but working in quite well. She even knows her name. All of them are Banties. We are not getting any more hens.

They roost in the coop at night. We made enclosed play yds in the front/back of the coop so they could have safe range-free areas even tho small in the event we need to be gone even for a few hrs.

I gave up on roosters because we had lost too many hens with chicks or eggs as when they become Broody never know where they are & can't find them until we find a chewed up body. I said no more.

I gave away the last 3 chicks we had. 2 roosters & 1 hen.

I don't know what to tell you about trading.

Hi,
My post was aimed more towards ChickenParadise. Thank you for your response. Is Sarchi Sur the same as Sarchi as in furniture town?

Its the same place. Sarchi is the only town that makes wooden furniture. Sarchi Norte is the town itself & we are in the south part of Sarchi. Our neighbor has a furniture shop next door to us with his house on the other side of us so we are in the middle. A wonderful place to be-this is where the Lord wants us. Thank you for answering.

Hello. I live in Nicaragua and im also looking for Heritage chicken breeds. Have you had any luck?
If you could pass on any info that would be very appreciated.
Thanks.
