Hi, my name's Lucy and I live in a little village in the Midlands, UK. I had the crazy idea a few months ago of hatching chics. I bought a cheap incubator off eBay and a friend gave me 5 Silkie eggs. Only 2 hatched. I tried to hatch a further 3 and 1 hatched. It looked lonely so I bought 2 more from a breeder. I now have 5 chickens. 3 silkies, 1 Silkie mix and 1 frizzle. I also have 4 small children, 1 cockatiel, 2 goldfish,1 hamster and a husband!!! Hoping to learn lots about our new additions from this group, thanks for having us!

Hi Lucy! Welcome to BYC, and chicken life! (Have you had chickens before?)
:welcome
Lovey Silkies...and your frizzle! Too cute!:love
Hi, thankyou. I remember we used to hatch chicks when I was younger and Living at home. But never had any in the 11 years I've been married (hubby is not really an animal lover!) Kids are loving having them tho, i have just started letting them out the run and they have a wander around the garden while we're out there. Very funny to watch!

Aw, I love it that you're instilling the love for animals in your children. And that hubby must not be toooooo bad, since he accommodates for them, at least.

My husband is not entirely sold on the chickens either...but even though he's not in love with them, he doesn't stop me (lol...I fact, he's built my entire animal enclosure and chicken coop, so he's not too bad either ;) ) lol

He's not too bad, as long as they don't bother him he doesn't mind. The kids absolutely love them, it's our schools big summer holidays here so they are outside with them alot! I had them at the right time as the weather has been very warm these last few months.
