Oklahoma. Tulsa isn't that bad, but the Des Moines area was one of my favorite places I've lived...so far.

Oh darn, I have been hoping to meet the byc'ers that are in my area. I have yet to have someone on here 'fess up to it . I do like living here as well, although I think I could live happily in the pacific northwest.

I DID miss your post! Glad you posted again, hello Bunny! I grew up on the southside and now live near downtown. Are you part of the Des Moines Backyard Chickens Meetup group? I went to one mtg, but didn't have chickens then so I stopped. Think I might join in again. Carrie

If you ladies are into multi-colored eggs, you should get some Easter Eggers, which are frequently and incorrectly sold under the labels, "Araucana" or "Ameraucana" (commonly misspelled as "Americana" or "Americauna" by these hatcheries. Easter Eggers lay eggs in different colors such as blue,olive, green, beige, and even pale pink and gold. My granddaughter loves the colored eggs and so I keep some Easter Eggers in my flock for just that reason.

We are really close to downtown too. I haven't heard of this meetup. Do they have a website? Sounds like fun!

Hi, are you still in DM? I'm on the north side w/ chickens too. I got chicks from Bomgaars & got stuck w/ a rooster too, lol. I'd love to talk to someone locally about chickens. Thanks!
