Hello from Dewey, AZ

Hi everyone. We just got our first chicks today! I've wanted chickens for years but only recently had the space and time to raise them.

My father passed away in January and I inherited his house on 2 acres. We (my adult daughter and I - husband will join eventually) moved up from Tucson a couple of weeks ago.

Here are our new babies.

We couldn't decide what breed to start with so we went to Olsen's (anyone know what hatchery they order from?) and picked up 3 EEs, 1 OE (the one passed out with its leg extended) and one Buff Orp.

They are all supposed to be female. I sure hope so because my husband said no roosters and I would hate to disappoint him. We're already attached to them.

I also paint, knit, dye yarn, quilt, and various other arts/crafts. My husband is imported from the UK. Uh... What else? I'm a neurodivergent introvert who probably has adhd... What more could you want? 🤣😂

Edited to add - How could I forget... We have 3 cats who have personalities about as different as they can be.

I live very close to you but only have a quarter acre. I'm sure the mgr at Olsen's will tell you if you ask what hatchery they get the birds from. We got four goslings from them a few years ago and it was Metzgers, but that can't be for chicks.

Good luck with your new chicks! I hope you enjoy your new home up North!
