Hello from East Texas

Hello everyone. My name is Kevin, I'am 41 years old, live in east Texas - close to Jasper - which is a rural area, and I am looking for information on chickens.

My wife and I have been talking about getting some chickens, but I want to get refreshed on the topic before we take the plunge. I have not had chickens in close to 20 years - mainly because I moved from a rural area to the city. But a few years ago my wife and I moved out of the city limits and back into the country.

When todays tough financial times, we want some kind of renewable food source. You never know when things can go from bad to worse.

Good for you, I just started raising chickens even though I live in the city. Truth be told they aren't that hard to take care of if you do things right from the beginning. I agree that we should all be a little more self-sufficient and that more people should at least know where their food comes from.
