Not new to chickens but the last flock were adults when I got them and quite tame. These are about 9 weeks old and think I'm a giant monster who wants to devour them. I try catching, holding and petting but it's not helping. They're terrified! Unless I have canned sweetcorn. Then they'll eat out of my hand.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If you approach them from above, they will be scared. Sit on the ground or in a chair and just be still and speak quietly and softly to them and let them come to you. Never chase them. To them that is full on predator behavior and them being prey animals, will naturally run.

As DobieLover said, they are prey animals and leary of everything! I have found just take it slow trying to touch them. When you give them treats, slowly move your hand over from the side and try to pet them. This usually work for me. It just takes time! You will get there!
