I just got back into chickens. We started with 8 mostly silkies and a moth later I wake up and somehow we have 25 chickens. I guess my wife is as much addicted to chickens as I am. What I know I have is silkies, barred rock (my two favorite), RI, I think leg horn, the others hopefully you all can help me figure out

Hi and welcome to BYC - great that you have joined us and its good to hear that you are once again back into the world of chickens. Chickens certainly do have a way of multiplying - I've never figured out how - just seems to "happen"

Welcome to BYC,

I see Ken has given you a link to your states forum where you can meet people that maybe close by to you. That's a great way to make new friends.

Congrats on the new flock. Keep a eye on the Silkies, with the full size chicken as you may have to separate them. They others are all full size breeds of chickens so they should just get along well once the pecking order is established. Good luck with your new flock. Tell the wife she needs and new chicken coop and run for the Silkies if she bought them. LOL

Welcome to BYC, Jeremy and Jess! :welcome
It's always fantastic to meet fellow poultry enthusiasts here on BYC! :D
Don't you just love the wonders of chicken math? It multiplies when least expected, yet we are fully aware of what we are doing, and then we look again, thinking, How did that just happen?! :p Enjoy that flock- they'll provide you with lifelong hilarity, enjoyment, and eggs!

Welcome!

The most important chicken-math factors when working out how many chickens you have are that chicks do not count and bantams only count as half so you do not yet have 25 and may need more

This is a link to the Breed & Gender Forum where you can post some pictures for that help you need figuring out what some of them are: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
