Hello All! I'm new to the group, obviously, and new to raising chickens. I have 4 adorable chicken babies, who take a lot of time and energy to keep (and I wouldn't have it any other way). I have a Spotted Sussex: Medusa (strikes fear in the hearts of all chickens). A Blue Cochin: the beautiful Princess Chica (who at 7 weeks is still all white?). An Egyptian: Spunky little Fern. And Last, but definitely not least, an Americauna: the lovely Lila (who looks like a Hawk).
My Girls were a gift from a friend, who discovered that many Veterans were using them as a form of therapy. I know it sounds cheesy, but they changed my life; when your activities are limited and your kids are off to school - they become your reason to stay awake and not wallow in self-pity. Anyway...
Their personalities are so distinct, I find them delightful (which I'd never thought to say about a chicken) and they respond to me like curious children. I adore them and find myself talking about them with anyone who'll listen, lol!
Well, I'm very glad to make Your acquiantance!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have a lovely little flock, love all their names (really like Medusa for a Sussex.)

I love your names too though, Medusa does give me pause. Maybe you could balance that out by having a "Black Mamba," oh well save that for a spunky black chicken if you get any. So glad they are enhancing your life - they do have a way about them.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Your chicks have some cute names. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) names our hens after Disney princesses. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.
