So being kind of sick of being depressed on Valentine’s Day( my hubby isn’t into gift giving and I am) I went and got my first Chickens. I’ve been wanting them for awhile and DH said no way. Valentines I told my Hubby I’m probably going to bring some chicks home and he didn’t say anything sooo...

These little girls (fingers crossed because they are not sexed) came come with me. My kids helps pick them out. First are my silkies. The one in front is Luna (who is white?), then Pattie (grey / blue), then in the back is Cotton (buff or white).

The other one we got was an Ameraucauna bantam that had very nice dark feet but in the morning I found her in the waterer :( . Now I have rocks in the water to hopefully prevent that from happening again.
So back to the store I went and came home with this friendly baby who is also supposed to be a Ameraucauna but it’s feet are not a solid dark color like the other. It’s also a lot darker. She’s very sweet and keeps trying to get out of the container. Named after the first Ameraucauna and her name is Silver.

Then we have the twins who really aren’t twins . Millie and Muffy. They are supposed to be Mille Fluer. So far they are the most flighty but they will be getting lots of handling.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Nothing better than treating yourself on Valentine's Day AND with chicks! :jumpy Sorry you lost one already, things like this do happen. :hugs

Enjoy this new adventure and welcome to our roost! :-)

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

So is your DH a "never buy a gift" sort, or just not on the overly commercialized holidays? I'm not really a fan of "mandated" gifting days either. Obviously gifts are appropriate a some times... anniversaries, birthdays... that sort of thing But I always prefered the "just because/no special day/reason" gifts...

Anyway... congrats on your new chicks! Thanks for sharing the pics :clap

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this thread. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
