I am new to BYC and to Chicken Raising. We have a few neighbors that are currently raising chickens, and quite a few friends too, so we feel well supported in this new venture.
For a few years I have been trying to convince my hubby to raise chickens for eggs, finally he is on board! Then last week (very last minute) we got a call from a friend who owns a farm. She said someone was bringing her chicks, but she didn't know anything about them. Apparently someone bought a family baby chicks for Easter (bad idea) and the recipient of those baby chicks couldn't care for them. So in the end, we "rescued" the chicks.
I posted a thread in another section asking for help about finding out what kind they are. I am sure that someone knows
So far we know that one is a Silkie, that's pretty clear
They are in a plastic bin right now, and we are in the process of building a coop for them (if it stops raining!)

and Welcome To BYC! Good luck with your new flock, the chicks were lucky you were able to rescue them! Be sure to check out the BYC Learning Center, lots of good articles on all aspects of chicken keeping.
