Why has one of my 18 week old Black Sex Links kill two little birds (not sure what type) that have flown into the yard? I could tell something was going on by the way the flock was chasing her around. I went out and took the little bird away before they could tear it to shreds. Is this normal?

Well it may be normal for chickens but we don't have to like it. I've heard others say their chickens do the same.

! Great to have you here! I think it is very normal. Chickens are very pecking order dominated - they will attack whatever they perceive as weaker. They've been known to kill and eat mice, snakes - anything over which they feel they have an advantage. That is why chicks aren't introduced into the established flock until they are a certain size and age.
