Hello everyone, my name is Ilias, am from Greece and im raising some chickens for eggs, meat and aesthetics! when was younger i always had chickens/ducks at my grandpas house(grandpa loves chickens too) so im not that "new" with chickens.
Now that i finished my studies and i moved back in my village i decided to start chickens again,
On march 2017 i bought my first incubator and started to inubate eggs of the breeds i liked the most.(brahmas,sussex,australorp,phoenix,silkies). Now the adults that i have are
3 brahmas(4 male/2 female)
9 australorp(2 male/7 female)
4 phoenixes(2m / 2f)
1 female sussex
1 male sikie
1 female silver sebright
1 male cochin (hatched from the australorp eggs, the egg was given to me by mistake buy the guy).
3 female silkie/frizzle(the father is frizzle but the mothers are like silkies, but not)(i got them from my grandpas chickens),
the only males that i have seperated are the 2 brahmas because i dont want them to harm the 2 female brahmas(or the australorps). one of the other 2 brahmas is 4 months old, so he is no threat to anyone :P
these days im gonna seperate some of the females so i can collect fertile eggs from the right roosters.
Its good to be in a forum like this, ive searched many times diferent questions on google about chickens and every time i was getting in this forum! so i decided to be a member!!
Here is a photo of my 2 red phoenixes (and the siklie like breed)keeping an eye on my cat when he realises the mistake he made to enter their teritory :P :P

Welcome to BYC and so happy you are getting such an early start in following you dreams I had to wait until my late late 40's before I got my chicken! I would dearly love to see photographs of your European Phoenix'. Or please feel free to spoil us all with photos of your entire flock!

Edit I realize it is close to midnight for you at this time, so they probably are not up for photos at this hour!:p

edit- @penny1960 @rjohns39 @007Sean I beat you to a welcome? Hard to imagine!

See and I only got as close as Sardinia, it was such a transition for us vacationing and arriving on a gasp...Sunday, and expecting a store to be open then the Siesta Hours made it an entire jetlagged feeling 2 weeks when we were there. We kept driving to the store for supplies and they were always closed. So that vacation was a mostly bread and lunchmeat vacation for the family.

Penny this is not exactly a silkie, is one of three hens i got from my grandpa, i got them mostly for brooding reasons.
Here is a photo of the parents of this "silkie like" hen.(altho the mother and some of the other babies of her have 5 toes like silkies)

Here is a photo of my pure sikie(young male)

Welcome to BYC! Sounds like you have quite the assortment! Those roosters are sure pretty.

The collection (i hope) is going to get a bit larger in the near feture! I would love to get some pure breed silkies and a couple of golden phoenixes(i had to whites but a dog killed my rooster when he flew out of the pen(the 2 white phoenixes where the only 2 eggs i managed to get from the buyer, and they were the first to hach in the incubator, male and female))
i also want to get a couple more sussexes, ayam cemany, and the list goes on..:P
