Hello Everyone. I have a small flock of chickens (Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Aricanas and a pair of white somethings). Reginald is my Rooster and he is quite the dude.
I hatched him from an egg, well I didn't but my buff Orpy did. Her name was Flufferbutter. Unfortunately I don't have her anymore because she died. I have a guinnie chicken that I think is a rooster but I am not sure. OMG is he/she stupid. I had 5 other roosters but I gave 4 away and chopped the otherone's head off and cooked him. He was real mean. He jumped on me 3 times and got me in the shins with his spurs and I said that's it. I had never killed a chicken before or plucked one and I hated to do it to his chicken because he was really beautiful. I did it though and I cooked him too. But I just couldn't eat him. I stared at him on my plate and just cried.
I'll never do that again. I do enjoy collecting eggs from my girls. My husband and I eat the eggs with no problem. I would love to share stories with all the members from time to time.
