a young rooster i have has ended up with a facial injury (a pretty nasty cut , otherwise fine, he’ll heal) and a closed up eye

he can open it now after i gently pulled it open as it had some yellow crust around it but theres a very small gash in his eyeball under his lower eyelid

his pupil has a hazy green tint to it and im assuming its mildly infected

im not going to take him to the vet as unfortunately i cannot afford it, hes an unamed rooster from a unwanted hatch we had in id say february along with one brother and 4 sisters

we were planning to sell them off as we dont want 2 more roosters and keep the hens, as we usually do, but i would like to get him healthy again and see what we do from there

it currently has a bit of this weird cloudy brown/white goo thats sitting on half of his eye, it moved up from where it originally was under the bottom eyelid and seems bigger, im a little concerned its part of his eye and i dont want to touch it incase i hurt him as there could be nerves in it

i have an adult rooster named King who went blind a while ago after a fight with a stray rooster we gave away, Kings eye was bloody with a large gash but no yellow or green, i couldnt take any notice to a weird goop because of the blood

he was fine after a day or 2, got used to his blindness over time, and now has an eyeball that is flat in his skull instead of round like the other one

the weird goop could be the inside of his eye?

the newly blind rooster is also quite sleepy and has a runny nose on the side of the injury and eye, i haven’t quarantined him as i think he’s mostly just a little scared and shocked and thats why hes tired

edit: the runny nose i dried it a few hours ago (its currently 5pm i think i dried it at around 2-3pm) and its still dry so it might have been something else , maybe water that got stuck in his nose and dripped out after a bit

hes got some leg shaking going on which is a little concerning but again he might just be a little scared and alert because he cant see out of one of his eyes

edit : the leg shaking seemed to have stopped when i went to take the photos of his eye, it might have been pins and needles from the way i was holding him ( i rest my chooks on my legs with their legs hanging in between mine so they relax more, the limpness of his legs mignt have caused blood to pool a bit and cause some pins and needles maybe)

any suggestions on how i can treat it without expensive medication or vets??

i can find a saline wash in my first aid kit but i only have one for now and i dont want to waste it if its not going to help - i know it sounds harsh to be so restrictive with stuff like that but we just had to take our cat to the vet last week for a total of 300 dollars..

i hate having to use homemade remedies on my pets but i have over 45 chickens and im not going to use special treatment on a rooster i dont particularly want to keep around

i do love my pets so please dont think im an a-hole for saying this about him , i would really like to get him healthy again if its possible so any suggestions or recommendations/ recipes for something to help with the infection would be greatly appreciated

You can make saline, it's just salt water.
You can try putting neosporin or something on the eye but honestly, you might as well put him down if you don't want him anyway, he likely has a decent infection.
