Hello! My name is Sofia, and I am 14. I have a horse named Nikki D (yes, I know, funny name, but I wasn't the one who named him) who I ride dressage with. I also have a Siberian cat named Leo who is my fluffy BFF. We also have two dogs, but I am more of a cat person. I am new to chickens, but I have been watching this form for about a year and a half before I joined today. My mom and I have wanted chickens for a long time, and in September we got three day-old RIR pullets from Cackle Hatchery who should begin laying soon. Dad was not into the idea of getting chickens at first, but once he learned how many eggs RIRs lay, he became a chicken supporter, too. I'm hoping to get more chickens soon, because three doesn't feel like enough now that I know how much fun they are! Unfortunately, we have a small backyard, but there are no restrictions on chickens where I live, even within city limits. Even roosters are allowed, but I would not want to bother anyone.

P.S. My username is a playoff of Microsoft Firefox

Hi Sofia and
welcome-byc.gif
-glad to have you join us. Its good that the whole family is enthusiastic about keeping chickens and fresh eggs is a treat not so many people have the luxury of experiencing. I'm sure you can't wait for that first egg eh?

All the best

I'm impressed. You seem quite active with your animals.

Dressage...quite a fancy style of riding. Care to tell us about
it? How did you come to be interested in that?

Welcome.

Hi Sofia, very nice to meet you. A lot of chicken folks are going without roosters, many are more trouble than they are worth. Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock.
