My daughter and I are new here. Have been searching your posts for past 2 years on advise. Great forum! My daughter, 9 now, has owned ducks for past 2 years. She is married to her male duck, Black Cloud. After 2 years of owning and 2 tragedies, I think we have it figured out! We now have 3 cayugas, 1 drake, 2 hens. One hen is prob. crossbreed with a khaki campbell. We are anxiously awaiting our 2 new ducklings, 1 ancona and 1 welsh halequin. We are duck obsessed! So much fun. My daughter shows in 4H. We also have 2 dogs-lab and a lab/coon hound mix. 1 cat and a fish and 4 outdoor bunnies. We lost our last ducks to predators at night which they figured out how to get them in their cage. And 1 set to we think mink. And recently almost to a hawk! Our current ducks are almost a year and are laying green eggs! They are so cool. I have 4 kids, 3 boys and 1 girl and a great husband.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
