hey my name's jdchickengirl and i'm from indiana! i'm new to the chicken biz but hoping to get started. i want (isnt the minimum 25) about 10 laying hens. any ideas on which breeds are best? indiana's winters are a little cold, so i would need a hardy breed. and, meat isnt something i'm interested in, just eggs.
and one last thing, i need to build a coop. any suggestions?

from Michigan. Check out the coop and run section for some great ideas for your coop. You do not have to get 25 chicks. It just depends on where you order from. I really like my Buff Orpingtons and Barred Rocks. Granted they are only 4 weeks but they are really friendly, and not crazy like the RIR.
