Hi! We just bought a house and 3-1/2 acres out in the country and picked up our first 18 chicks last night....didn't plan on 18 but the guy was a good salesman.

I wish I had found this before we got them though. We have pulled one out and quarantined him...not sure if he is sick or just younger maybe than the rest. Anyway, thanks for the great site! Kim

I have a problem with snakes trying to get inside my coop. Does anyone know how to keep them away

Some people recommend using chicken wire to keep snakes out. The idea is you stretch it out along the outside of your run, in loose twisted coils - like a slinky toy. When the snakes try to crawl through it they get tangled up and stuck there.
