Hi everyone! I'm Shanelle from Lebanon, Indiana. My husband and I bought our first house last year--we are finally, finally out of the city and living peacefully among the cornfields. We don't have chickens yet, but we will get some chicks within the next couple weeks--my father-in-law is coming this weekend to help us fix up the coop that came with our house. :)

I grew up on a farm and my brother and sister and I were in charge of gathering eggs from about 40 hens, mostly RIR, Leghorns, Golden Comets, and Plymouths (white and barred). The eggs were for our family, my uncle's family, and my grandparents, and Mom sold the rest (and once the hens were past their laying years, they went to freezer camp). So I'm not completely new to chickens, although that was about 25 years ago so I'll have to re-learn a lot. I'm glad I found this site, and I'm looking forward to reading and learning all I can!
