Hello from Indianapolis!

My girlfriend and I are new to chickens this year. We started with four chicks this spring. They were doing great until last week when we sadly lost three due to heat stress. Yesterday we picked up three new girls to join our lone surviving Easter Egger. We've gone from learning a hard lesson about heat stress to learning how to integrate three new birds to a solo flock.

I've visited the site a few times in the past, and have spent a great deal of time reading the forums after our recent loss. The community advice has been very helpful, and I decided it was time to join.

Pictured below are Beaker the Easter Egger and two of our new birds - a Rhode Island Red and a Leghorn. An Australorp pullet has also joined the flock.

We maintain a blog if anyone is interested - http://spacefarms.wordpress.com

Looking forward to participating in the community!

I checked out your blog. I love the banner picture you have at the top :lau
Nice photo of the EE you posted there.
Sounds like you've learned a lot about chickens already... I hope you find everything you need on the site. :D

Sorry for your loss. Hope things go well with the newbies.

Thanks, everyone! It was heartbreaking to lose those three. We are definitely learning a lot from it.

Thanks, we had a great time designing that banner. Beaker is very photogenic with her beard
