Hi to all,
We moved to Ireland from Canada several years ago and have worked with or lived with animals most of our lives. New to poultry though. Brought 2 drakes home last April to hoover up the slugs in the veggie garden, then got a couple of layers in July. Things sort of expanded from there, we now have 26 chickens, 2 new chicks and are picking up 2 leghorns on Friday and 2 more chicks due to hatch Sunday! Besides the 3 (soon to be 5) layers, we keep nankins, sebrights, and a dual-purpose breed called Lincolnshire Buff. I like the rare breeds!
We have an assortment of pets as well: parrots, tortoises, fish, snakes, rabbits, and a dog. Our young daughter enjoys them all.
Hope to learn from the wealth of knowledge here and have some friendly conversations while I'm at it. Susan.
