Hello everyone, I've been lurking around your forums for a while soaking up all your wisdom! I first want to say: Thank you all for being awesome! I've found answers to questions I didn't even know I had!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm new to chickens, getting ready to get my first chicks. I think I'm going to go the hatching route for my first chicks!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None - I want to make sure I have the brooder done and the coop at least started before I order my eggs :)

(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm looking at Dorkings and Wyandottes to help preserve their breeds, but I do want some Easter Eggers too!

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
When I got the chicken bug I searched and found this place. I've been lurking around the forums for about two months just reading everything I can.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I crochet, knit, tat, garden, bike ride, run, and play with my dogs (who will need Chicken Sensitivity Training

).

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have two bearded collies, and they are my babies. I actually moved out to a house on 10 acres to accomodate my need for vast amounts of gardening room (in part because I want to grow a small orchard, too), their need to run, and eventually having some small livestock. I'm a software engineer by occupation, so I'm an odd one.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here! I hope I can contribute something back to this place :)
