In the Brooder
Hello everyone! Here is our chicken history: we moved from NYC to the country last summer. We found a place with a small barn and decided that putting a horse in it like the last resident was a little too much for us to bite off, but chickens sounded just about right! We ordered 7 chickens: two easter eggers, a buff orpington, a rhode island red, a barred rock, an exchequer leghorn and an australorp. We lost two to something living in the woods nearby (maybe a mink?), but we tightened up security and our 5 remaining are thriving. One of the EEs laid a first egg yesterday!!! It was like magic and the kid are thrilled.
I wanted to ask - is there anything we can do to keep this precious egg?
Anyhow, great to be here and thanks for listening!
