Hi there, BYC community! I've been reading posts from BYC for years and finally decided to become a member. Let's see...where to begin?
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
-- While I got my first set of chickens almost 4 years ago, I would consider myself an amateur chicken owner! I'm always learning (thanks in large part to BYC!).
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
-- Too many?! I started with 5...and now I find myself with 15. These things happen, I think, when one gets chickens. The gateway livestock and all... ;-)
(3) What breeds do you have?
-- Mostly they are a barnyard mix but I was lucky enough to adopt 4 stunning pure-breed roosters from a fellow BYCer - thank you, @TheYLWFlock! They are Lavender Orpington, Gold-Laced Wyandotte, Brahma, and Blue Ameraucana.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
-- I found BYC while researching for my first flock of birds years ago!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
-- Reading non-fiction (health & wellness, self-help, spirituality, yoga, economics...), writing (stories about people, places, sustainability, and plastic-free lifestyles), yoga (practicing and teaching), cooking!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
-- It's all chickens all the time around here! I live and love in Kelowna, BC which sits in the stunning Okanagan Valley...a place that I had no idea existed! Formerly from midcoast Maine, USA.
