Hello from Kentucky!

Hi! My name is Barbie and I'm a first-time chicken mom! I have 7 7-week old chickens and I can already tell I'm gonna be a crazy chicken lady. My husband thinks I already am

All of my girls have names and very distinct personalities which I love seeing emerge more everyday. A few of my favs: Coco Chanel is the most beautiful Easter-egger and a very quirky girl. She's always 'screeched' not cheeped and won't touch treats - even mealworms! Vera, my barred rock, is soooo sweet - she loves to be held. And then there's Amelia - the crabby, skittish, finger-pecking Buff Orpington... Seriously tho, I thought these were supposed to be the golden retrievers of the chicken world lol!

Anywho, it's been a dream of mine for years to own chickens and when we bought our lovely 3 acre plot just east of central Kentucky last year I knew I finally had my chance. Looking forward to learning a lot, watching my girls grow up, and finally collecting some amazing backyard-fresh eggs!

Nice to meet you Barbie. Tell your husband, he is isn't immune, we have many Crazy Chicken Guys, along with the women here. Are you sure your girl is a Buff Orp? Maybe she woke up on the wrong side of the nest. Well their are exceptions to everything.
