Hello from Kentucky

Hiya, Kevin, and welcome to BYC! :frow

My knowledge of line breeding comes from a couple of exhibition silkie breeders. They go 4-5 generations deep. I feel weird about that and am always looking for new genes. They may also be doing 1-to-1 breeding. At least here, there are around five hens with each rooster, so the siblings aren't generally full siblings, only half. So you take that half-sibling and breed it back to another half-sibling, each has the same rooster, but two different hens. It makes my head hurt to think about this too much, so I do about two generations and order several dozen hatching eggs every year.

We're glad you're here!
