Greetings from Kentucky. We have learned so much from this site that we figured it was time to join.
We have had our pair of banties for about a year. Our hen, Bonnie, has recently started laying and already tried sitting. That is, until the neighbor's dog taught her pups to chase chickens and eat eggs...
We used to free range them, but have put them up for their safety and our own peace of mind. The other day we added to our flock. Bought 10 chicks from a local farmer. We kept 4 and gave 6 to family to raise. Out of the original 10, we have lost one and one isn't looking so good. We will probably have a distraught 10 year old on our hands in the next few hours. But the remaining 3 are doing well, eating, drinking, pooping, and playing. Will post pics soon...
