Hi everyone, I am a new member, but have been relying on the great information available on this site for some years now. I am raising ducks in Lao PDR as a hobby, and have had three pairs that I bought as ducklings over the past 3-4 years. The last pair, Elvis and Eliza are the parents of Burt, the drake that I still have, who two days ago became the Dad duck to 14 ducklings from 4 different Moms all set by Ethel, my diligent mother duck. Lucy, her sister is not to keen on setting eggs, but she didn't mind laying a few in the nest for Ethel to set. Lucy and Ethel came to me about 2 months ago when my two other Mom ducks Dolly (Burt's sister) and Bella were stolen, and my landlord took pity on the motherless eggs in their nests and gave us two adult females. Burt was thrilled, and we were glad Ethel immediately started to lay, adding to the nest where we consolidated the other eggs. It's pretty clear from the ducklings that we have a mix, and the eggs were quite different sizes, but it all worked out. At one point, Ethel and Lucy were sitting facing opposite directions in the same nest. It has been quite an experience for them :) Happy to join the group!
