I am back!!! Two years ago we had to move and sold our girls. It broke my heart to say goodbye.

We moved to a Condo (not chicken friendly) and could not wait for the day we could have some ladies again. That time has finally come. We have moved into a house with a yard and I have been anticipating spring with an eager heart. The saddest part for me was when we used the last of our wonderful eggs. I made every single one count! I actually got teary eyed the first few times I had to buy eggs from the store. And store eggs BLECH!

Now I just got 4 little ladies and I am soooo excited.

I used to be on this site all the time but after my girls were gone it just made me sad. Our friends made fun of us for having a backyard flock... until they eat my ladies eggs that is. Well my husband also said NO WAY! no more chickens! I think mostly he was staying strong in front of his buddies because he loved them. He would cook meals for them and was always trying to better their home and taking videos and pictures as if they were in a play. He used to call me at work to tell me something funny the girls were up to, and bragged about their eggs to everyone. But people just don't get it. They still don't. My Brother-in-law saw our new girls and said "just when I thought your guys were normal" haha I love chickens!!! I was looking at chicken stuff online and my husband says " lets go get some pullets! but only two okay"?

Off we went to the store and now we have 4 pullets... one for each child.. it would have been unfair to only get two.

Now he is planning the new coop. The kids are loving it and I am in chicken heaven!!! I am so excited to read everyone's posts and answer questions and get my questions answered. I love this site and have missed it very much. Chicken culture is awesome! Anyway, Hello to all and it is so good to be back! Ohhh I can't wait for the eggs!!!

Welcome back! I can understand why you like the site so much. I've been around for a few years myself and kept coming back, even if it was with a new account. :p

I agree about the store-bought eggs. Our hens have been slowing down with the laying recently and we've had to buy a lot from the shops. Although we do pick free range, it's just not the same.

Very happy that you've got chickens again! Life would not be the same without them out in the garden. Hope everything goes well for you. :D
