Hi - Our family is new to keeping chickens (23 chickens plus 3 adorable ducks) and love all the great info on this site. We started with 5 RID, 6 black sex links, 2 polish crested, 3 bantams, and 2 americanas. Soon after we finished building the Taj Mahal chicken coop - our neighbor told us of a small dog carrier by the road with a Free Chicken sign on the side. Well, inside were 5 HUGE Buff Orpingtons (I think they are all roosters - egads). The poor things were stuffed in that carrier with no water nor food for hours until we picked them up. The three ducks we have not introduced yet. Look forward to learning more about our "flock" from the experts on this great site.
