Hello from Louisiana

Hi everyone, my hubby, 4 kids and I are wannabe chicken owners. We are trying to buy a place out in the country and are hoping to raise chickens, ducks and geese. Since I don't know anyone around here that has chickens, I joined in hopes of learning from other enthusiasts.

I've been reading Barnyard in Your Backyard and Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens, looking at all kinds of website on chickens, but I'm still nervous. So I'd love to hear any advice before I actually get any birds.
