Just wanted to post a hello. Been reading post after post for several months and finally decided to register. I 've been around chickens for most of my life. I worked in broiler houses as a teenager and my parents always had several hens running around the yard. I joined the military and left home with a wife in tow. After 10 years, I returned home (still have the wife:D) and three kids to boot. We settled down on a small farm near our parents raising cattle. We have a couple of dogs and a familt goat. We recently regained our interest in chickens. In the last 6 months our flock has went from a couple of crossbred hens to over 60 purebreeds (10 of each-Buffs,Aussies,RIR,BR, brown and white leghorns). We also have 10 Easter eggers. Three days ago we hatched 35 new babies out of 42 eggs set (using a little giant incubator w/ egg turner and fan!!) This successful hatch would not have been possible without the knowldge gained in the byc forums. I would like to thank all that post and look forward to reading and sharing more in the future.

I can relate to reading this forum to learn how to incubate all those eggies. How are your 35 babies doing??

All babies are currently warm, happy and healthy!

from the Island of Maui,

You seem to be more than just he new egg in town. I am glad that the posts here have been beneficial and I love the selection of Birds you have in your flock. It definitely sounds like you are in full swing at your farm! Congrats on all your accomplishments!
