Hi, we currently have 4 chickens and are 'flying under the radar' here in Manchester. Ordinances are fairly unclear, refer to 'poultry', want to take the West Hartford success and get an ordianance passed. Any suggestions?

I do believe there is a section some where here about what you are looking for under ordinances you might want to look in the learning center or forum to find such a thing .... Good luck on your project but for now as not to draw attention to yourself leave out the Rooster for now unless you are like me ....

Good for you! I live in Manchester and went to the town hall for a variance. The process way long and expensive but we won due to the chickens being used for therapy. The spoke with the town planner at an award ceremony and he said they were working on moving in the direction of getting an ordinance approved. I don't know where they are in the process but you might want to check with him. My advice to you is don't talk with the zoning commision to ask questions they go strictly by the book. I might stay under the radar for a while longer. If they find out they will take the birds and fine you.
I have 5 hens and 1 rooster that has recently gone from a Ginger to a Gerry. Pretty upset with that, so if you want a Golden Comet rooster let me know. i want her to go to a good home and not be eaten. She or I guess I'll say he, is absolutely the favorite of the bunch, she is so inquisitive, friendly and funny as all get out. If I hold her she nibbles at my hair so gently. Gerry has not started crowing yet but his comb is becoming quite obvious.
