My name is Tom and my wife's name is Beth. My wife and I decided to get some chickens to play with so here we are. She likes the more unusual chickens so we now have 3 red Silkies and 2 gray Silkies. She is looking at getting some Poilish as soon as she decides on what color whe wants. I am in the process of building a bigger coop so that there is room for any FUTURE additions to the flock so I don't have to make additions to the coop!! LOL I have read enough posts here to know to make it BIG the first time. I am lucky enough to have a friend that just retired from the USDA and has a Ph.D. in Poultry Science, so I have a good backup for problems. He also has about 400 of his own flock!! We are both Superintendants of a feature at our county fair called Old MacDonalds Barn, Milking Parlor and Birthing Center, where we have a variety of animals and try and educate the public on farm animals and their use in our area.
