Hi I'm just getting into the idea of having a backyard flock/ sustainable living albeit modestly since we only have 1/4 an acre (how those 1-3 acre listings on farm land for sale do torment me lol). We do have close neighbors so noise is a pretty big factor but we've narrowed down our ideal breeds of duck (we're still working on the chickens if we opt to do them since I've heard they're loud), we want either ancona, Cambell's, Welsh harlequin's, Black Cayuga, or Muscovy ducks, leaning more towards harlequins. We thought about getting a mixed flock but since some a heritage breeds wouldn't it be best to only get one sort so there's no interbreeding? We were hoping to get them this year but might wait till next since the pond isn't finished and we have no housing for hem, but we still want to make sure we know exactly what we're getting into. We're always looking for fellow poultry keepers in the PG county area! Any advice or help on getting started would be greatly appreciated! I always admired the people near us that kept chickens but I always thought you had to be a real farmer to do it!

PS: Does anyone sell birds locally or reccomend any specific breeders? And are Cracked or eFowl safe to buy from?
