Stopping by to introduce myself before I get lost in all the wonderful information I am finding here~

Today is our first day as chicken owners! Our chicks arrived this afternoon just in time for a major cold snap to move through our area. So we moved our little darlings into the spare bedroom *blush*. The garage is just way too cold. We have spent the last month building our first coop based off a simple design found in a flyer at our local farm and garden store. The coop is pretty much done except for a door needing some chicken wire and the back door needing a different latch.

Along with our chickens two cute little ducks snuck into the container, so we are doubly blessed today with all our new friends! Once I figure out how to use this forum more I will share some pictures of the coop and my soon to have feather feathered friends!

Welcome!

So that you can hurry up and post the photos, here's a useful tutorial: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=504

welcome my michigan brothers and sisters. I am pretty new here myself, but i am happy to say that you will find a warm and welcome environment in here and everyone is so helpful. I wish you luck with your new babies.

I think I figured out how to do this...

This is the coop when we first got it up. Side view showing the nesting boxes and the huge ramp on the side where the run was added on most recently.

This is the back view where we can open up for easy clean-out (we are hoping).

Inside view from the back doors... you can see the nesting boxes and the perch from this view.

All these pictures are from construction phase, its had a large ammount of work put into it but the final product has been worth all of the work!

Thanks for the welcome!
I managed to get some good photos of the chicks, I have an extra one in there! So its 11 chicks and two ducks! They are all comfortable cuddling up together for the night in the spare bedroom.

I have more pictures but want to try to save room for more pictures as they get bigger!

Pretty sure what I have are Australorps, Brahmas, Araucanas, Bantams, and RIRs.
