Hello!
I am a manager of a historic farm in Minnesota. We have chickens, ducks, and geese (we also have goats, sheep, and pigs).
We have:
5 Barred Plymouth Rock hens
2 ducks, a Silver Appleyard hen and a Hybrid drake
and 2 female Embden Geese
Currently, we have our chickens seasonally (they spend our chilly Minnesota winter at a farm better equipped to their needs) and have our waterfowl year-round. We have several thousand elementary age children visit our historic farm for a field trip in the spring and fall and we love introducing them to farm animals as many have never seen them first-hand.
I finally decided to join BYC because raising and caring for the animals at our farm is only a fraction of my job and while it is one of my favorite parts of this position, I am far from being an expert and being about to reach out to a community with questions will be super helpful!
