Hello, I am from Minnesota and this is my first time on this site. I have been raising chickens in the city for over ten years now without a problem. I have been very fortunate to obtain a permit in the Twin Cities.

You have some beautifully colored birds! Are they mean?

I have never seen such unique chickens!

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone.

Depends on what you would consider mean. They are like any other Back yard chicken, they do establish pecking orders and the dominate one will be more aggressive. Roosters can be problematic towards each other in later age because of their high testosterone level.
These birds are not for any novice breeder, there intelligence are many times mistaken for bad behavior. We understand these birds very well and have maintain flocks with many roosters without any problem. These birds were NEVER bred for commercial use and have been family treasures for many centuries. This contributes greatly to their wonderful personalities and intelligence.
These are not mean at all towards the caretaker. They love attention and every single bird has its own great personality.
These hard feather breeds to not do well in cold climate, however, if provided a tight shelter with less temperature fluctuation, the Thais can acclimate and sustain themselves.
The Shamos and Ko Shamos do not do well at all and I have not had any acclimate to our cold winters. They have always been kept inside.

Please keep in mind that what I have stated above does not pertain to hatchery stock. In my opinion, once a breed has been ignored of its intelligence and personality traits, and used for mass production, it has become something completely different from its ancestry.
