Thanks for all the welcomes! Our cochin is much better - I thought there was no way he'd survive, but all is well and he/she's as rammy as ever!

Someone was kind enough to trade us some tempered glass for squash and apple butter, so eventually we will replace one of the panels in the ice fishing house with that glass to allow for more daylight. I just have to not worry so much and see how it goes as it goes!
