My name is Sandy. My husband and I just started a small coop. We have 28 hens and 4 roosters. Didn't know we could do without the boys. Live and learn. So hello glad to be here, have lots of questions.

Small flock eh? haha maybe its just me I thought I had a small flock.. but I guess to your standards it would be teeny. I have 9..not counting the new little ones. Anyhow have fun here. I have learned so much and you will too.

! Pleased you joined us!! You might also have two roosters too many - your hens may get overbred - causing injuries on their back from the rooster's nails. Good luck to you and enjoy your flock!

I know I was surprised years ago to discover you don't need a rooster to get eggs. You DO need a rooster to have fertilized eggs.
