My family and I just got two chickens last night with a coop.

Our son named them Lisa and Maria. They are georgous red hens. Maria is a little shy and Lisa is more adventurous. We've let them roam last night and today too. Our son is the chicken keeper. He says he will feed them, love them and take care of them. He takes this job very seriously.

We got Lisa and Maria as a first step in our self-sustainable life style. We hope that is a few years going to the grocery store will be a very exceptional outing :)

We will see how this goes but for now we are very happy with our new additions to the family.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Congrats on your new birds! Give them time to adjust to their new surroundings and they will tame up more. Sit quietly with them on the ground daily. Take some treats with you too. Food is a wonderful medium for bonding.

Enjoy your new birds and welcome to our flock!

Thank you so much. So far on day 3 we are REALLY enjoying the experience. My son is very responsible of his chickens. My husband and I really love being in the yard with the chickens walking around, it is a very relaxing experience.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you are having fun with your new flock!

Welcome to BYC and congratulations on your two new girls and their coop. It sounds like you are doing a great job teaching your son responsibility. If you can post a picture of them, I would love to see your new girls. Good luck with them.
