I just wanted to say hello to you all! I have found this site and it's members to be a wealth of information for my wonderful flock and I so let me start out by saying THANK YOU! My family and I live in the foothills of N.C. We have around 30 or so chickens ( we had a wonderful hatching season lol). We started out with six little chicks from our local Tractor Supply a couple years ago. Since then we have added and sadly lost a few. We have everything from frizzles to Old English game.....we even had a sizzle hatch this year and he is quite the strange looking little fellow! Our chickens are our pets and we love them dearly! They are as tame as kittens and run like no tomorrow when they hear my daughters ( 15 and 10) or my voice. We even have a blind hen that is the sweetest hen you could ever meet! She does this adorable purring sound when we pick her up and cuddle her! Her name is Helen ( after Helen Keller ). She has adjusted to being blind ( and since quite spoiled lol ) very very well. We also have 2 pet goats ( that are just as spoiled maybe even worse) 1 dog ( Shih-Tzu) and 2 recently acquired male kittens named Puss and Neko. We are animal lovers to say the least. Travel or money make some people but our animals are what really make us the most happy ( besides family of course). So from our little slice of heaven to yours hello!
