Like most, I have been lurking here for a while, reading and learning. Using all the great information gleaned here and elsewhere, we have started our first flock of layers! Two of each: Austrolorps, Wyondots, Easter eggers and speckled Sussex. We have a small ranch in the wine country and have been trying to get back to the basics of life, home and family. I am finishing our coop utilizing all the great ideas and mistakes you have all made before me, I will post some pics when it is done.
We will be doing meat birds as well, but want to get the layers (and us) settled in first.
I have noticed the Austolorps seem to be very curious little buggers, they are over by us or anything new while the others are in the corner.
Thanks for all the great info.
Nick
